Paula J. “PJay” Breckenridge, L/C.Ped, LPOA, joined Horton’s Orthotics & Prosthetics in 2025 and serves patients at the Batesville clinic. She brings more than 13 years of experience in orthotics, prosthetics, and pedorthics, along with a diverse healthcare background that includes nursing, orthopedic care, clinical education, and leadership. PJay earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Mississippi University for Women.
PJay’s clinical experience includes working alongside orthopedic surgeons in both clinic and surgical settings, serving as Director of Nursing at ASU-Newport, and providing orthotic and prosthetic care in private practice settings throughout Arkansas. She completed training through the International School of Pedorthics and the St. Petersburg O&P College Certified Fitters Program and holds credentials as a Licensed/Certified Pedorthist and Licensed Prosthetic Orthotic Assistant.
She specializes in orthotics and pedorthics, with experience evaluating and treating challenging lower extremity and foot pathologies through orthotic, prosthetic, pedorthic, and footwear solutions designed to improve mobility, stability, and overall function. She is known for combining her nursing background with her orthotic and prosthetic experience to help patients better understand their treatment and improve long-term outcomes. PJay believes patient education is a key part of successful care and takes pride in building trust and confidence with every individual she treats.
She is motivated by helping patients regain mobility and independence. One of her most memorable experiences involved fitting a custom AFO for a patient recovering from a stroke who had been wheelchair-dependent. After receiving the device, the patient was able to walk independently for the first time since her stroke and later returned walking without assistance, sharing that the orthosis had changed her life.
In addition to her healthcare career, PJay was appointed by the Governor of Arkansas to the Criminal Detention Facilities Review Committee, where she served two terms. She also previously served in law enforcement and retired with the rank of Sergeant after being injured in the line of duty. PJay has remained active in her community through leadership and volunteer roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for Village Creek Golf Club and volunteering as a youth softball coach and umpire.
Outside of work, PJay enjoys golfing, riding motorcycles, reading, and spending time with her two children, Mindalyn and Andrew.
