Kandice S. Mitchell, L/CPOA, joined Horton’s Orthotics & Prosthetics in 2015 and serves patients at the Little Rock clinic, bringing extensive experience in the O&P field. She holds credentials including Certified Prosthetic-Orthotic Assistant (CPOA), Licensed Prosthetist Orthotist Assistant (LPOA), and Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P).
Kandice provides care to patients of all ages, with specialized experience in pediatric orthotics and prosthetics, including cranial remolding orthoses (CRO), scoliosis orthoses, pectus orthoses, lower limb orthotic design, and advanced 3D CAD/CAM and scanning techniques. She is known for her compassionate, family-centered approach, creating a supportive environment for patients while ensuring families feel confident and involved throughout the treatment process.
She is passionate about improving functional outcomes and has worked on complex, multidisciplinary cases, including designing a custom orthotic solution for a newborn with ectopia cordis, a rare condition in which the heart is partially outside the body. Collaborating with a specialized team of physicians, Kandice helped develop a protective orthosis with a clear observation window, allowing the patient to safely interact and grow prior to surgery.
Kandice continues to expand her expertise through specialized pediatric training, including attendance at the Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics (ACPOC) Conference. She has also been recognized for her professional contributions, including speaking at the STAR Summit Conference, a specialized conference focused on cranial remolding orthoses (CRO), in 2025, and serving on the ABC Grading Standard Board for Assistants in 2026.
Outside of the clinic, Kandice enjoys traveling and spending time with her daughter.
