Types of Custom Orthotics
Orthotics can treat a wide range of acute or chronic conditions that affect the neck, spine, hips, knees, and feet. Full upper- and lower-extremity orthoses are also available for the treatment of extensive or complex health conditions and injuries. Our purpose-built orthotics help stabilize or immobilize the weak or painful area as you work through a rehabilitative program. We also offer orthotics designed to help balance your stride and correct minor issues with your gait that can cause pain over time.
Daily Care Requirements for Orthotics
Orthotics are in close contact with your body, and often your skin, throughout the day. This means that cleaning them regularly is key to long-term comfort. As dirt and grime build up over time, it can negatively impact the effectiveness of your orthotics and cause discomfort. We recommend cleaning your orthosis once daily or after each wear.
Wipe the inside and outside of the orthotic with a damp cloth and mild cleanser. Wear clean socks or sleeves with your orthotics to protect them from dirt and grime between cleanings. Make sure to inspect the orthotics for signs of damage at the end of each day. Report any signs of a problem to your orthotics team or it may worsen over time.
Importance of Orthotics Education
Custom-made can increase your comfort and overall quality of life by stabilizing and/or immobilizing your damaged appendages. Good orthotics offer the support your body needs when and where it is needed most. Educating yourself about how your orthotic works and how to care for it will help you get the most out of your device and prevent injury from misuse.
